Today’s video of the day comes from Colorado sister pop group SHEL – Rainbow. The video features the women of the Hope Springz craft center in Vrindavan, India, which empowers widows who have been left destitute.
In some regions of India, when a woman becomes a widow she becomes a “bad omen”, shunned by friends and family. In Vrindavan there are more than 20,000 abandoned and destitute widows who live in forced exile. Locally-run centers like Hope Springz are housing the women and teaching them how to support themselves by making jewellery.
SHEL’s Eva Holbrook traveled to India to make the video for ‘Rainbow’ (the lead single from their forthcoming EP Wild Child) with a focus on raising much-needed funds and awareness for these vulnerable women. SHEL (sisters Sarah, Hannah, Eva, and Liza Holbrook) hope their partnership with Hope Springz will make a lasting impact.
