Brooklyn-forged punk band Surfbort has released ‘Lucky’, a punkified affirmation for the good life – for fans of Bikini Kill, X, and Patti Smith. The release comes with the announcements of a new album, Reality Star, due out 6 March 2026 on TODO.
Opening with Bee Wright and Adam Laidlaw pulling out some heavy riffs and Dani Miller’s vocal fry method of singing, ‘Lucky’ is an easy listen. The lyrics – repetitive and overwhelmingly positive – become an earworm of emotional support. In the background Sean Powell smashes on cymbals and provides a catchy beat, while Valentine Dejoie quietly adds depth to the track on bass. Possibly influenced by the band’s current residence in LA, the tune to this track is bright and casual, almost like skating down the brick banks.
The music video is a bizarre sepia-toned date between Dani and a pickle (played by Hatti Rees). The date takes place around town with clips of the pickle rocking out with the band throughout. It’s a little weird, a lot of fun, and full of classic punk fashion.
The album announcement also comes with a track list and cover reveal. Fans can look forward to a fourteen track adventure full of the kind of out of the box names Surfbort is known for. It looks like everyone is in for a wild ride.
