Australian multi-instrumentalist and sound healer IKSRE (I Keep Seeing Rainbows Everywhere), the latest musical project of Phoebe Dubar, has released a sublime and transcendental album on, in all her forms (sound meditations vol. 2).
Teeming with life, ‘lake shore’ glistens with hope and vibrant possibility. Footsteps weave trails through whispering grasses as hums and quivering notes echo across the dense shoreline. Dreamy and healing, ‘lake shore’ is a gorgeous opening track to mark the journey IKSRE has laid out across, in all her forms (sound meditations vol. 2).
Hand pan wafting on the edge of fluttering strings, ‘gentle rain’ drifts to and fro like the brush of a butterfly wing. Tranquil but fleeting, IKSRE has lovingly bottled the comfort of a rainstorm for whenever it is needed. A song to irrigate the soul, ‘gentle rain’ consoles and reinvigorates with unrivalled ease.
Soft chants glide through the air on the heels of a tempered snowfall as chimes twinkle over a frosty soundscape on ‘falling snow’. Light and crisp, this track feels like watching a blizzard nestled by the fire. A shelter within the uncertain, ‘falling snow’ provides warmth and solace.
Singing bowls, dancing branches, and chimes flicker over a parting in the reeds to reveal a sanctuary beneath ‘the sun. the waterhole’. Another track of assurance and home, this song carries a lullaby feel that immediately throws the burdens from your shoulders and calls you to rest. ‘the sun. the waterhole’ fills your cup and asks only for stillness.
With flowing water and vibrational focus, ‘the source’ calls us back to reality to finish our sonic exploration of the album. Asking us to solidify a stable center within, ‘the source’ is a track of homecoming. This track kindly reminds all of us that returning to balance is possible, even if we have a long road ahead and that Home is, always, where you are.
in all her forms (sound meditations vol. 2) is a stunning ambient album. Dancing in tandem with the varied voices of nature and the musical gifts of humans, IKSRE perfectly blends this album to highlight the often-overlooked terrestrial beauty of the world we live in. Seamlessly flowing from track to track, this album has been one of the most uplifting musical experiences I’ve had in a long time. If you have an hour free and want to find a shred of hope again, you’ll find some on in all her forms (sound meditations vol. 2).
