Leeds-based dream-pop quintet Bug Teeth have released a rousing pair of remixes of their tracks ‘My Stupid Tree-Frog Daughter (Remix)’ and ‘Thin Circle (Remix)’ from their debut album Micrographia.
Collaborating with TURNSPIT and Far Caspian for these reworks, the electric influence on the audio layering across these two tracks is immediately apparent and intricate. ‘My Stupid Tree-Frog Daughter (Remix)’ shifts from the sombre aura of the original and changes gear to a more shimmery dream-pop. Breaking out the synth and atmospheric soundboard, this reimagining injects a lively beat and carefree energy that nearly flips the original vibe. Bug Teeth have breathed new life into ‘My Stupid Tree-Frog Daughter (Remix)’s once pained melody, allowing it to soar even higher.
‘Thin Circle (Remix)’ brings even more textures to this rendition than the original. Skipping, grainy, and reverbing sections lift the familiar lyrics to a faster tempo as added strings shift the track from intensely introspective to a new swaying beauty. ‘Thin Circle (Remix)’ is a wonderful sonic refurbishment with fresh rhythms fit for the dance floor. A little more speed and a little more spice, Bug Teeth really delivered.
