Bath post-punks Bureau De Change have signed to Alcopop! Records, celebrating by refusing to stay quietly on the menu. ‘The Gammon’s Lament’, the first track from their forthcoming 2027 debut album, is a furious protest song aimed upwards at the people in power who treat everyone below them as disposable.
Stomping drums and guitars that jab, scrape and collide give Flora Kimberley plenty to rage against. Her vocal veers between a sermon and a public bollocking, with the whole band sounding thoroughly sick of being told to know their place.

That is the heart of it: grief growing teeth. ‘The Gammon’s Lament’ knows how easy it is to become paralysed by the sheer horror of the political climate, but it refuses to leave us wallowing there. Look up, find the real enemy and make some noise.
