Northern Irish-born, Leeds-based singer-songwriter Lucy Robinson shares new single ‘Let Down’.
A soulful, feel-good anthem about breaking free from hustle culture, ‘Let Down’ blends funky alt-pop with heartfelt vocals and a reminder to slow down, breathe and enjoy the present moment. Robinson shares:
“I don’t know what algorithm I’m on, but I feel like I’m constantly hit with videos of people cramming a million things into every day. I used to find it inspiring, but now I’m actively trying to undo the pressure that’s caused in my brain. ‘Eat. Sleep. Hustle. Repeat.’ and ‘No days off’ are toxic slogans. We aren’t meant to be hustling this much.”
Drawing from her own experiences juggling the roles of performer, manager, marketer, booking agent and creative director, Robinson knows first-hand the pressure of constantly being switched on.
“Hustle doesn’t equal sustainable. As an independent artist, I’m learning that stopping and taking care of yourself is just as important as pushing forward.”
