London’s Retropxssy shares new single ‘Wasted Days’, the first release from the deluxe edition of I Haven’t Told Anybody, due on 24 July.

Written about waiting for someone and realising they’re not coming back, the song began life as a response to a relationship that had exhausted her patience. Over time, however, it took on a deeper meaning.

“A layer of meaning has settled over the song which also relates to grief,” she says. “Denial, anger, repression.”

The result is a hazy, melancholic track that captures the strange similarities between heartbreak and bereavement. As she says, the song is filled with “feelings that leave a headache.”

Album I Haven’t Told Anybody journals Retropxssy’s experience of grief following the death of a close friend.

“The first edition was set in the forest. In the deluxe we find ourselves by the river,” she says. “The edge of the Thames is a place I have spent a lot of time practicing resilience.”
