Essex-born rising star – and LOUD WOMEN Fest London alumni – Bridget. is bringing her grunge-infused punk to the LOUD WOMEN stage at Rebellion Festival this year.
Get to know the woman behind the blistering punk bangers here…
Firstly, how long have you been writing and performing as Bridget.?
My first show was just after lockdown restrictions lifted in 2021, it was an acoustic set as no ‘loud’ music was allowed! Properly, I’d say 2022 onward.
For anyone not familiar with your music, how would you describe your sound?
Energetic, punk-fuelled, grungey, fierce, brooding. PJ Harvey meets Amyl and The Sniffers and has a kid with Courtney Love.
If you had to recommend one of your songs to a new listener, which one would you choose?
Ooo, I have to say Cloud 94. One of my newest singles. I think it shows the direction I’m headed.
What can we expect from your set at Rebellion?
Sweat. Hair. Liberation.
You’re playing the LOUD WOMEN stage this year. What would you say to someone who maybe doesn’t understand why we still need things like LOUD WOMEN?
LOUD WOMEN doesn’t just hold the odd ‘female musician’ nights down the local. They are a movement who champion musicians who happen to be women, including non-binary and trans folk. It’s to shed light on other people in the music industry who may not be cis white men, which sadly does give many the upper hand in getting billed. Things are changing though, especially with LOUD WOMEN and similar collectives. If you won’t book us, then we’ll do it ourselves kind of vibe.
Are there any other bands on the line-up you’re particularly looking forward to seeing?
What else are you up to this year – any tours/festivals/releases you want to tell us about?
New Bridget. era. EP in the works, thanks to my amazing supporters raising me money on Kickstarter (highly recommend for independent artists!!) Plus I have got some super fun shows and festivals coming up this year – Boomtown, REBELLION obviously, Beautiful Days. Got some awesome venues to play in, like St Stephens Church Ipswich 29th Aug for Rad Pitts 10 year anniversary show. Just super happy and excited to be doing it!!! Hoping to get on a support tour next year, if not this winter. Hit me up if you’re looking for a support :DDDD
And finally, is there anything else you’d like to add?
My 2nd EP is coming late Autumn/early Winter 2025. Be ready!!!!
Thank you so much to Bridget. for answering these questions!
