Brighton-based band The Roebucks are an indie/Americana four-piece, oozing grit and dripping in bluesy-rock influences. Boasting support from the likes of BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 6 and Radio X, the band have graced the stages of festivals The Great Escape and Wonderlust. With their second release via Goo Records, The Roebucks bring us the head-nodding, ear-worming ‘Mona’.

‘Mona’ brings edge with band member Tom Cotter‘s spoken verses and is lifted by the ascending vocals of Sophie Moloney and Lola Gordon. Recorded with multi-platinum producer Warren Huart, the track retains its rawness and moxie.

“Mona is a song originally written about (singer) Tom Cotter’s frustration with covid and how it was isolating him to his bedroom. Without wanting to be too literal we changed the lyric from “Hey Rona” to “Hey Mona”. When we had a girl’s name instead it became more of a song of yearning for a lost lover. We wanted a hint of Lou Reed’s talking/singing style in the verses and a Beach Boys-esque layered outro with all three harmonies.” -The Roebucks

Candid, gritty and infectious; The Roebucks are one to watch.
