Vienna-based jangle-pop quartet Laundromat Chicks have hit us with a rock-bottom reminiscence track on their latest release ‘Want Some Air.’
Caked in nostalgic currents, ‘Want Some Air’ is a pop-bop that feels steadfast but a tad weary. While the lyrics skate close to pining for the past, the beat swells upward, dragging us toward an uncertain but honest future.
Releasing ‘Want Some Air’ feels like a full circle moment of our history. It was the second song I ever wrote, when I started Laundromat Chicks as a solo project. Once I had found people to play live with me, we’ve played it at pretty much every show since. Now, after 4 years of playing it live, it has become the first song we ever recorded in a full band setting. The lyrics are an early attempt at ‘pop magic’, with which i mean writing complete nonsense and making it feel meaningful.”

While the origins of ‘Want Some Air’ are rooted in nonsense, the track draws forth hope with its frankness. A blunt edge that, like all substantial art, makes you feel something, and in this case, something resilient.
