London-based genre-crossing hardcore punks Le Rox are bringing their raw, high-energy sound to Manchester Punk Festival this year.
I caught up with their vocalist Laura to learn more about the band…
Firstly, how did you all meet and when was Le Rox formed?
Steffan and I crossed paths a couple of years before whilst in other bands and we started hanging out in the studio and jamming during the pandemic, the guys had already been working on some songs before I came in, Le Rox wasn’t really properly formed until a little while later. I don’t think at that time any of us were really sure we wanted to put together another band after recently coming out of others but eventually and quite naturally that happened.
For anyone not familiar with your music, how would you describe your sound?
It’s a bit of a mix of punk and hardcore, maybe with a little bit of metal thrown in at points, angry, emotional, energetic.
If you had to recommend one of your songs to a new listener, which one would you choose?
‘Kill For You’, it’s definitely my favourite and I think gives you an idea of what we are about.
What can we expect from your set at MPF?
30 mins of pure raw loud energy, honestly we are so stoked to be playing.
Are there any other bands on the line-up you’re particularly looking forward to seeing?
There are so many bands that I want to see this year but to name a few, False Reality, Belvedere & Abraskadabra. Im also looking forward to discovering something new.
What else are you up to this year – any tours/festivals/releases you want to tell us about?
There is a lot going on behind the scenes at the moment that I can’t really shout about but expect a bit of everything.
And finally, is there anything else you’d like to add?
We are playing in the YES Basement at 5pm on Saturday!
Thank you so much to Laura for answering these questions.
