It’s impossible to ignore that dance music is having a moment right now. With the likes of Charli XCX and JADE dominating the charts and scooping up at the BRIT Awards, we’re seeing the biggest resurgence in electronic club anthems since the turn of the century.

Australian DJ and producer Anna Lunoe is ahead of the curve; she’s been pumping out dance bangers for well over a decade, performing at the iconic Drumsheds and collaborating with the best in the business along the way. And who better to provide vocals on her latest anthem, ‘Girl,’ than Spice Girl and certified pop legend Melanie C?

Out now on NLV Records, the track was born out of a backstage meeting at Coachella in 2024, where the two pop powerhouses became not only musical collaborators but friends, too. Their close bond is reflected in the lyrics, which play out like advice you’d give to a friend struggling with self-doubt:

Girl, yeah, you got it, you’re on your way / Don’t wait, it’s your day / We got all these things on our mind, gotta let them go

Set against a groovy bassline and drum ‘n’ bass-esque beat, ‘Girl’ is three minutes of pure female empowerment. Blasting it first thing in the morning is guaranteed to turn your bedroom into a dance floor and make you feel capable of whatever challenges the day throws at you. When Sporty Spice tells us we can do something, we have no choice but to believe her.
