Alt-pop star Nxdia shares their latest single ‘Feel Anything’.
Nxdia takes us along with their experiences dealing with the lows and highs of depression and manic episodes. Just like how fast the brain can shift into a manic episode, ‘Feel Anything’ is a track that catches you off guard. Starting with a soft tone, ‘Feel Anything’ explodes into a super sonic pop punk energy.
“I wrote ‘Feel Anything’ about both the depressive and manic moments I’d experienced through the earlier half of the year. In the beginning I talk about feeling isolated, trying to have conversations with friends to understand why I was feeling the way I did, why I felt the need to disappear and make myself as small as I felt at the time. It was a really difficult time and the only thought that would keep me through it was the assumption that I wouldn’t feel that way forever, no matter how much it felt like I would.

As the song progresses it takes a turn, kind of like how it felt like a switch when I’d suddenly have a bunch of energy – but I’d use it to go out and party or do impulsive things trying to feel anything. I tried to make it reflect how sometimes I’d feel “good” but that really meant I had enough energy to force myself to attend club or party environments just for the sake of wanting to feel sad and numb. Both of these places are depression and anxiety taking different forms but the loop of the pattern can make you feel like you’re getting better.”
