Hailing from Ireland’s county of Wicklow, alt-metal sparklecore artist AILSHA has crafted a metal feature fit for a feline in her latest single, ‘MEOW.’

Using her background in video game composition, AILSHA pays a demanded tribute to her beloved cat, Nugget, and her perpetual need for attention in ‘MEOW.’

‘MEOW’ was a fun song to create and was inspired by my cat Nugget’s constant demands for attention. I wanted to write the song from her perspective which I feel applies to most pets – they’re only here for a short time, but a good time, and within that short time we become their whole world. I wanted to sing/scream the lyrics in a way I imagine she would if she could, and I tried things with my vocals that I hadn’t tried in a track before. It’s definitely the heaviest song yet and already a hit at my live shows – I can’t wait for people to hear this one.” – AILSHA

The track’s sinisterly sweet vocals and playful tone remind me of Scylla’s songs from the early access release of HADES II, specifically ‘I am Gonna Claw (Out Your Eyes then Drown You to Death).’ The insult the cat feels in ‘MEOW’ is just as palpable and unrelenting as Scylla’s, prompting an intense track with an elegant yet enraged vibe.

Cat folks and metalheads will find joy and maybe even a few laughs in this track. With all the trimmings of advanced, heavy techniques and screams that fit the bill, ‘MEOW’ is a welcomed surprise to the genre.
