After a six-year year hold-out, Northern Carolina’s Rainbow Kitten Surprise are back, with featured artist Kacey Musgraves joining them onsingle ‘Overtime’.
Ela Melo, singer, songwriter and front-rider to the four-piece describes the serendipitous encounter with Musgraves:
“I wrote ‘Overtime’ on a Saturday, met Kacey the following Monday, and got up the nerve to ask if she’d be down to lay down some vocals for it on Tuesday.”
Musgraves’ hits into the final verse with sublime melodies:
“Call you, you pick up: You wanted to say ‘I love you’: But I’m not the one you love: And that’s what I’m afraid of.”
‘Overtime’ is an excitable introduction into the band’s upcoming 22 track album, LOVE HATE MUSIC BOX, slated for 10 May, which will be exploring the turbulent trajectories of relationships, with vibrant mosaic musicality.
