We are delighted to bring you today the premiere of ‘River Run’, the new single from New York based singer-songwriter KAZIMI: a dreamy folky journey about leaving small town life to explore something new.

The song begins with sparse notes of electronic piano and soft vocals that together give the impression of plops of water in a pristine river. As it progresses, more instrumentation gently kicks in and the lyrics flow dreamily. In the chorus we feel transported into the wilderness and the sense of possibility that arises when on an adventure, the words ‘On this river I’ll run like a wolf in night / creeping slow to find the light’ giving an air of comfort.

KAZIMI is a new project inspired by the power and beauty of nature. The name derives from the astrological term ‘cazimi’, which is when a planet passes close to the sun, and it’s said to bring good luck and opportunity. The release of ‘River Run’ coincides with a Mercury cazimi.

KAZIMI explains:

“Making this record, I learned over and over that timelines are not always going to work out the way you think they will. I’ve thrown so many dates out the window because the music wasn’t ready. To now be able to release when there is a cazimi feels like a sweet little nod from the stars. They’re said to be auspicious days to debut a creation to the world and I’ll take all the support I can get.”

‘River Run’ is an introduction to the debut album of the same name which will be released later this year.
