CLT DRP: I Always Liked Your Mother Better (Saint Agnes remix) – new music premiere

LOUD WOMEN is excited to bring you today the premiere of an explosive electropop collaboration between two of our new faves – the Saint Agnes remix of CLT DRP‘s ‘I Always Like Your Mother Better’. The release heralds the announcement of an exciting remix edition of CLT DRP’s album Without the Eyes, due to release 13 Nov.

Here’s what the bands had to say about each other ❤

CLT DRP supported us at a show on tour and blew us away. Kitty and I couldn’t wait to get our hands on the music and remix it.

Saint Agnes

We knew early on that we wanted do a remix version of this album. With our sound edging in to that electronic territory it seemed like the natural thing to do. At the start of this project, if you showed us the list of bands that all came together in the end to do remixes for this album; we would have been pinching ourselves. We’re blown away with all the artists input and really excited for everyone to hear our debut album reworked.

Both bands are sparkling hot stars of Brighton’s Small Pond Recordings – a Brighton indie label serving up some very tasty fish right now (see also LibraLibra and Bitch Falcon)

Saint Agnes + Soeur: live review & photos

Live review and photos by Keira Anee @ Dingwalls, 25 Oct 2019

Last night was the first time I’ve seen Saint Agnes in a long time, maybe even a couple of years. From the beginning, a friend of mine recommended them highly and back then interviewed singer Kitty for one of the first issues of the photo journal, 98 Wounds.

Six years later, and it was fantastic to see them having sold out Dingwalls, and I hear other dates on this tour, too! I remember a while back speaking to the band about music they were listening to, and them telling me about times they would sit around together, in silence, listening to a whole album by The Doors, or Metallica. Their live set certainly suggests these phenomenal influences – all, of course, opened with bassist Ben, in a bunny costume, staring menacingly at the crowd. That is, before the rest of the horror clad zombie band stepping out and showing the room insane amounts of energy!

It was also fantastic to finally see support band for the Saint Agnes tour, Soeur. With a lot of great stuff coming from Bristol at the moment (I love No Violet) they make my home city look, if I may, ‘bangin’.

It’s only a day later and I want to see them again, perhaps a Loud Women show…?

Saint Agnes: Brother – track of the day

Today’s track of the day is the brutally good new single from Saint Agnes, Brother – taken from EP Family Strange.

Kitty A. Austen (vocals/guitar), explains:

“Saint Agnes and our wider family are a fucked up tribe of weirdos, outsiders and freaks, and we are a home for anyone who’s never felt like they quite fitted. Our new EP is a celebration of the strange.

“We wanted to create something that was bold in its simplicity and disarming in its honesty. The songs have a child-like narrative – a direct voice that cuts straight to the heart of things in a way that only a kid can. The songs are about powerlessness and empowerment, bullying and being a bully, loving and hating the same person. The imagery is twisted and disturbing with shadows and monsters – just how a kid imagines things.”
