Los Angeles-based queer indie pop star Caroline Kingsbury releases her new EP, Shock Treatment.

Kingsbury’s EP title was inspired by the 1981 cult follow up to Rocky Horror Picture Show. The film’s themes of societal pressure and the push and pull between reality and fantasy are also the foundation to the EP.  Shock Treatment is an alternative reality: queerness is the norm and celebrated while hetrosexuality is marginalized.

At the heart of Shock Treatment is the focus track ‘Meteorite,’ a nostalgic, cinematic ballad infused with shimmering ’80s-inspired magic.

“We wrote ‘Meteorite’ as a nostalgia-filled movie scene of sorts, trying to capture — sonically and lyrically — the uncertain longing of falling in love with someone new. Love can feel so foreign, like a visitor on fire crashing into us from another world.”

Shock Treatment delivers a burst of technicolour fun, celebrating the joy of being unapologetically yourself.
