Today’s video of the day is glorious. Canadian duo Partner (aka Lucy and Josée) release today their ‘Big Gay Hands’ into the world, to massive applause from ours. The song was allegedly inspired by frustration at listening to a lot of AC/DC-and-the-like songs about women’s bodies, and deciding that the world needed a song about queer hands.
“This song is about a wild night on the town filled with queer desire. It is an important song to us because it expresses a feeling we know is shared by many. There are a lot of songs out there about women’s bodies but this is the only song we know about big gay hands. This song is dedicated to the hotties and to those who love them.”
Video director Lesley Marshall:
“Learning about the anthromiphization of hands was actually more complicated than we originally thought. It was a hilarious process of us figuring out, what are hand legs, would the head be on the thumb and more importantly where are hands on a hand person??! All the hands of people performing are on the sexuality spectrum with a queer qrew which is always amazing – like a set of awesome hand themed unicorns. Representation both behind and in front of the camera are key at MAVN.“
